Price: around $450

With touchscreen laptops raging in the market right now, everyone is jumping on the bandwagon to upgrade their laptops. It is safe to say that Touchscreen laptops will soon become the norm for personal computers.  Currently, many laptops within the budget range are surfacing in the market that boast Touchscreens.  Take this Acer Aspire E 15 E5-511P-P7VB for example. This is a budget laptop which is affordable for everyone, and yes, it features a Touchscreen!

Hardware: Intel Pentium N3540, 15.6 inch HD Touchscreen, 4 GB DDR3, 500 GB HDD, Windows 8.1, 7 hrs battery, Optical Drive

This year Acer has focused on dominating the budget range within the laptop market. They have some of the features that are much sought after but are rarely found in laptops of this price range. Features such as a long battery life. This laptop has one of the longest battery times you can ask for, and at around 7 hrs, this laptop has enough juice to keep you away from the power socket for a long time.

Besides that, the processor featured in this laptop is the Intel Pentium N3540. This is not an entry level processor because that position is held by Atom and Celeron processors. However, that does not mean that this processor has the performance of an i3. It is still a basic processor built for basic tasks such as writing reports, researching, browsing and checking mails etc.

Personally, if I were to choose a laptop for its touchscreen, I would go for smaller sized 2-in-1 convertible laptops. They feature almost the same features at the same price range, but manage to offer laptops that are convertible into a tablet. Take the 11.6″ Toshiba Radius L15W-B1302, as an example. Although that laptop has a small screen, it has the similar specs (minus the optical drive) and it is convertible. To me a machine with Touchscreen is all about portability, which I do not see adding up in a 15.6 inch laptop. The Toshiba Laptop also has the same hardware specs and also costs about the same.

But if a large screen is your primary deciding factor, then you should stick with Acer Aspire E 15 E5-511P-P7VB. In that respect, this is an excellent machine. There are no drawbacks, only personal opinions about the features of this machine.

For a 15.6 inch Touchscreen laptop that features a good Intel Pentium processor with 4 GB of RAM and 500 GB of HDD at less than $450, this is a best laptop deals. But you need to remember that you are sacrificing mobility for a larger screen. This laptop is bulky at 6 pounds and also quite thick at 1.24″.  If these measurements are bit on the large size for you, you have to consider the extra features you get within!

Further features of Acer Aspire E 15 E5-511P-P7VB include 2xUSB 2.0 ports, 1 x USB 3.0 port, HDMI, Webcam, and SD card reader. Moreover, it offers Wifi, Bluetooth, and a VGA port.

All in all, this is a well priced and fairly powerful budget laptop for essential tasks. If a large 15.6″ touchscreen is your priority, then I would give this laptop a thumbs up for you. However, if you are seeking a portable machine with the convenience of a touchscreen and you could do with a smaller screen, then I would suggest you look for convertible laptops. They offer the exact same specs, are much lighter, and have almost the same price.
