If you are need a large screen laptop that can be used like a workstation machine then the Toshiba Satellite C75D A7130 should be top of your list to ‘check it out’!  Large 17.3 inch laptops are not the most mobile systems, but they are much better to spread your applications around so that you see what you are working on.  Hence, they are usually called desktop replacement notebooks, as they offer an alternative to your typical office or home workstation.  Designed for all round performance, this laptop can serve up the power you need at a budget price!

What processor does the Toshiba Satellite C75D have?

The Toshiba Satellite C75D A7130 is driven by an AMD processor instead of an Intel.  The AMD Quad Core A6-5200 processor is similar to the Core i3-4010U processor, but for a budget price, you are getting yourself a very decent processor that has capacity to perform as many tasks, applications, downloads and games as you can throw at it at one time.  AMD processors have a slight edge over the Intel in terms of multitasking and gaming, and on top of that, the integrated graphics card featured in the AMD A6-5200 is marginally better in performance than the Intel HD featured in the Core i3-4010U processor.  Older style games can be played on low resolution graphics at a respectable frame rate.

What other features does the Toshiba Satellite C75D have?

Now for the nice stuff!  This laptop features 6 GB of on-board RAM and 750GB of Hard Disc Drive.  Note that the 750GB capacity Hard Drive is above the norm for budget laptops and it is more usual for laptops of this price category feature only 500 GB of HDD.  In addition to that, the screen resolution is 1600×900 (HD+) instead of conventional HD resolution.  The benefit of higher resolution is that it gives you more real estate to work on.  We always find this feature is essential for multitasking and for research and report writing purposes.

We need to remind you that this power comes at the cost of portability.  Although the Toshiba Satellite C75D A7130 offers better value for money in terms of performance, this laptop is quite heavy and bulky, but that is the price that you have to pay if you want a 17.3” laptop.  This laptop measures about 1.30 inches in thickness and weighs about 6 pounds, so it is great on the desk, but not so great if you need to carry it around on a daily basis.

Additional features of this laptop include a whole range of connectivity and interfacing options including HDMI port, 3 USB ports, Wifi, SD card reader, VGA port, and fast Ethernet connection.  It also has a webcam with built in audio and built in stereo speakers, and don’t forget the optical DVD drive, which is more than just a nice to have.  Therefore its inclusion adds further to the great value of this notebook.

Summary of the Toshiba Satellite C75D A7130

Designed for great performance, the Toshiba Satellite C75D A7130 is an excellent semi-workstation grade laptop.  It is not a full-fledged workstation laptop as it does not have the most powerful processor and a dedicated graphic card.  However, for a price of less than $400, it has an excellent hardware configuration that should give you a lag free experience, and more than enough power to handle your everyday tasks.  I would recommend this laptop for the home and office.
