Price: around $360

The Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5351 is an AMD based budget laptop that boasts a sufficiently powerful processor which is more than just capable of running your average daily tasks. Other than a good processor, this laptops offers standard hardware configuration at a well valued price tag.

Hardware: 15.6″ HD, AMD A8-6410, 4 GB DDR3, 500 GB HDD, Windows 8.1, Optical Drive

This laptop features the AMD A8-6410 processor, which is similar in power and performance to Intel Core i3-4010U processor. This basically makes this laptop a multimedia laptop to a degree since software such photo editors and video production can be used in due moderation. Unlike the laptops that feature Celeron or Pentium processor, this laptop can handle quite a bit of multitasking. Another great additional aspect of this laptop is that it is quad core, therefore it will perform exceptionally well in multi thread scenarios.

Other than that, Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5351 offers 4 GB of RAM and 500 GB of HDD, which is standard for laptops of this price category. Note that the RAM in this laptop is not user upgradable, which means you’ll have to take the laptop to the Toshiba outlets to have it upgraded. In fact, you wont really need to upgrade the RAM at all. 4 GB is quite sufficient for a laptop of this kind. This laptop also includes an Optical drive, which is a plus point given the fact that many brands have begun to opt out of optical drivse to cut cost and weight.

Speaking of which, this laptop is one of the sleekest looking laptops in the budget range. Weighing at 4.85 pounds and measuring at 1.05″, this notebook lies on thinner and lighter end of the spectrum.  This laptop also includes a standard full sized keyboard, HD webcam with mic, Ethernet Rj-45, Wifi, SD card reader, VGA port, HDMI port, 2 x USB 2.0, and 1 x USB 3,0 ports. The palm rest is textured which helps in the much needed grip for prolonged hours of typing.

The closest competition from Toshiba to this laptop is the Toshiba C55-B5352. This is also a 15.6″ laptop, but features an Intel system. For $35 more than this laptop, the C55-B5352 offers  Core i3-4005, 6 GB DDR 3 RAM and 750 GB HDD. It does; however, exclude an optical drive. If you are looking for a bit higher performance then C55-B5352 might also be a good pick.

Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5351, on the other hand, is a complete package. It is a budget laptop for all essential tasks plus a bit more. Probably you should not expect this laptop to run games. This is a laptop for simple office work such as word processing, internet surfing, or casual multimedia. Or if you want to perform very minor editing jobs, you can do so too. It is an excellent laptop for students in my opinion, because not only can it easily fit in anyone’s budget but it also thin and light.

All in all, if you are seeking to use a laptop just to complement your digital life or perhaps you want to gift a loved one a laptop, then Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5351 is an excellent choice. It has a quality build and has quality components that can ensure a streamlined and lag free performance for all your online needs.
